Overview:
The BMA421 is an ultra-small, triaxial, low-g acceleration sensorwith digital interfaces,aiming for low-power consumerelectronics applications. Featuring 12 bit digital resolution andembedded intelligence, the BMA421 allows low-noisemeasurement of accelerations in 3 perpendicular axes and thussenses any-motion/no-motion and enables plug 'n'play stepcounting in smart phones and wearable devices. Furthermorethe device is optimized to fulfill low power step counterrequirements.

With its embedded intelligence BMA421 is unique in the class ofconsumer grade accelerometers for smart phones, wearabledevices and toys and gadgets. The embedded intelligenceenables precise low current always on step-counting at 25 uA insmartphones and wearable devices (e.g. wrist bands). Featuringa high performance measurement mode with low pass filters anda current consumption of only 150 uA the BMA421 is robust tovibrations and aliasing. In low-power mode operation the currentconsumption can be even further reduced by more than oneorder of magnitude. This fulfills the current consumptionrequirements for always-on applications and wearable devices.The BMA421is highly configurable in order to give the designerfull flexibility when integrating the sensor into the system.
